Lyrics

Stumble And Fall
Do you ever know?   Can anybody tell me   Just how the story goes     how the plot unfolds
Does the hero win     does he triumph in the end   Is darkness overcome       by the beauty shining in                                   Does he ride off in the sunset like a cowboy in a sunday matinee
dark wind  howling   storm clouds blowing in      Ya cinch your coat  tug your hat and turn into the wind                               twisting turns in your life     you just wonder    if you'll ever win
You  stumble and fall   when you take it on the chin       dust yourself right off    get back up again                                         Some times it might seem hopeless  but  buddy  you know you won't give in
Does the hero win     does he triumph in the end   is darkness overcome       by the beauty shining in                                         A thankful heart  unburdened  a quiet truth   carried deep within
dark wind  howling    northern blowing in       Ya cinch your coat  tug your hat and turn into the wind
You don't think you're a hero    just  try to be   a righteous   humble  man
You  stumble and fall   when you take it on the chin      ya dust yourself right off and  get back up again                                     each time a little stronger  facing fear     resolved courageous wins
It does.....
You stumble and fall    you just might  once again                                                                                                            A humbled heart grows stronger      each step a little win                                                                                              but in your your heart    you know    its really not the end.
Love wins...

Story

I wanted to write about the pull of the stage and road that musicians feel. It's strong.

Story

Going on 20+ years ago, I was walking down the street on a hot sunny day. There was a local swap meet/booths and such going on in Bremond, Texas. This pretty little blonde woman just walked right up and introduced herself to me. That's how I met the love of my life and the best woman I have ever known... my wife Jo.   Steve Stallings 9/15/2014

Lyrics

I never thought that I would see
The kind of love she brings to me
Her smile just fills my everyday
She stopped me on the street
Saturday, a swap meet
How was I to know my life had changed

chorus
Her love rescued me
made me try to be the man that she deserved
you sometimes I stand amazed
Her love rescued me
Looking back it's plain to see
Her love rescued me

A little blond  maybe five foot two
Smiled at me and I just knew
That sparkle in her eyes
Was hiding something more
A gentle strength  a reason for
A man to settle down

Chorus

What brought us to this day
I think the Lord above
In His awesome grace looked down on us

Ten years later  We've built a life
Seven kids   hers and mine
A place that we can call are own
Grandpa and Mi Mi our second names
Wouldn't trade this for fortune or fame
It's all that I could ever want

Lyrics

MORNING SON

I slip softly out of bed in the morning        You're sound asleep
Make some coffee    grab a shower    throw some clothes on   brush my teeth
Pull down my old guitar     and I begin to play
Imagine that     you'd think the Lord planned it that way

I play a G chord   let it ring out near forever    It's my best friend
I know two others and the truth is all that's called for   and I understand
Pain and hurt    yeah those are easy subjects      but I don't feel that way today
Imagine that     you'd think the Lord planned it that way

You know most times I can't hardly explain     just where these songs come from
They write themselves       I'm just here for the morning Son

The house is quiet     the silence of a lifetime         echo's in these halls
The love and joy     and all those little memories      that come to call
But right now I think I hear a new song      It's my latest one
Imagine that     I'm just here for the Morning Son

Story

I originally wrote this song and donated it to Core Luv Org, a Christian group dedicated to saving orphans in Haiti.  My intentions were, and remain solely to support this group. After recording and placing the song on itunes, I have discovered that it would have served their ministry far better, to simply have donated a sum to them. Many downloads and plays do not transmit to many sales. Since this is the only song I have in my catalog that I allowed on itunes for the last two years and sales are nonexistant,  I am simply donating my costs and a love offering to them today 9/15/2014.  God Bless You Guys... this is an incredible ministry.   Steve Stallings, Cypress Texas

Lyrics

I'm gonna take that first step
we could be lost in forever
this time it will work out
Just hold on You'll see
I'm not the man who hurt you
Trust might be hard to come to
I promise I will  catch you
should you fall
I'm gonna take this broken heart of yours tonight
paint this shattered dream with love   and make it shine
turn away from            the pain of lonesome
  lots of lonely        out tongiht
won't promise perfect      love that last forever
I swear        I will love you
till... I.... die
Break...
take my hand...... walk with me a while
If you close your eyes  I will stay          here by your side
hold  tight you'll see
a man who still believes
our hearts where meant to be
joined  for all our life

Lyrics

Reckless heart restless soul

Tonight temptation will slip into their lives and try to take hold

They both know The price they will pay

forever loving in secret just moments they steal away

tell me why do they love why do they cry

are their hearts half empty half full tell me why

emptiness that just can't be undone

they need someone to hold them till the morning sun

chases loneliness out of the darkness and into the day

A tiny voice whispers this is so wrong

as they pull each other closer

they've crossed the line and they can't go back

but in the morning when they're sober

the emptiness hasn't been undone

they needed someone to hold them till the morning sun

chased the loneliness out of the darkness and into the day

Lyrics

ya hurt me I ain't denying that

Its not the first time thats a stone cold fact

its no secret might be hard to patch

This time

Was it this time or the time before

ya got your mad on and you slammed the door

swore you'd never ever darken my day again

though the house seems kind of empty

and the phone aint rang in days

might run out to the lake have a beer with the guys

so they can see that I'm ok

I just stare at the phone but I can't pick it up

yeah you know just how stubborn I get

Foolish pride yeah I know Got the t-shirt done that

But I aint that lonely yet

I aint that lonely yet

I'm telling all my friends

Yeah my mind is set

I ain't that lonely yet

I ain't that lonely yet

Hell, the paints still wet

On this picture of life, love , hope , and regret

I aint that lonely yet

Someone told me they saw you out on the town

said you looked fine had your friends all around

this phone ain't ringing

dang the lines must be down

I'd call your momma to check that you are ok

but she'd tell ya and there just ain't no way

I'll make the first move you might think I'm crawling back

Bridge

We had a good long ride together

Spring summer flew by now comes fall

but after this part comes the winter

and thats the coldest time of all

I aint that lonely yet

I'm telling all my friends

Yeah my mind is set

I ain't that lonely yet

I ain't that lonely yet

Hell, the paints still wet

On this picture of life, love , hope , and regret

I aint that lonely yet

Story

Probably my biggest guitar hero is Eric Clapton. I loved the early blues stuff he did and only later did I discover that much of his style came from his love of BB King. I rarely play this style any longer but I still love it. I loved BB King and did this simple little blues tribute to honor his passing.  Rest in piece BB. Truly you are now with the King.

Lyrics

It's a lonely road to heaven
when you're just this side of hell
and the darkness of the night time hides your fear
the dreams cry of forever
the emptiness stares  back
the innocence of youth forever lost
you've been here in this silent room
so many nights before
you know the dreams will come
they always do
you beg the Lord's forgiveness
for the cruel heart of man
you pray the scars you bear
will someday  heal
so you close your eyes   pretend you can not feel
and the lonely road to heaven rises up     just this side of hell
How many nights  you've lain awake
and prayed there'd be a day
the empty pain you hold and cannot share
would be set free one magic morn
   darkness cast away
light would fill    your empty heart once more
until then you'll close your eyes
no one will ever know
the dark place        your heart goes to each night
you beg the Lords forgiveness
for the cruel heart of man
you pray the scars you bear
will someday heal
you close your eyes   pretend you can not feel
and the lonely road to heaven rises up    just this side of hell
